In 1992, the first time I ran up Pike's Peak, I brought my wife and three (3) year old son to meet me up top with the car parked at Devil's Play Ground.....Big mistake, I was a 3:07 marathoner, thought I would be up top by 4:15, it took me 6:11....translation, my family was sick, and tired, but happy to finally see me...., all future times, they waited in Manitou. I would suggest you guys go up top on the Cog Railway the day before, and day of stay at the finish line.....my thoughts.... In response to: I'd like to be at the summit when my husband finishes the ascent race. I'll have our two young kids in tow, so would we be better off taking the cog, or driving up and riding the shuttle to the summit? Or are spectators better off just waiting in manitou? We're from TX, so there's a possibility that altitude may affect the kiddos.
