I registered for the PPA and contributed $50 to Friends of the Peak and $50 to El Paso County SAR. I was charge $14.98 in registration fees. On Active.com web site (http://www.active.com/myevent/help/faq.cfm) they state their fee structure as: $0-$149.99 (6.75% plus $1.25) $150-$499.99 (3.75% plus $5.75) The math doesn't quite compute in my case, but it is obvious that Active.com is charging a substantial fee for charitable contributions. I fully support El Paso County SAR and Friends of the Peak, but I will not waste my money on Active.com fees, but rather donate directly to the individual organizations. That is unfortunate because the PPA/PPM organization and the runners will not be recognized as a group for their support.
