Hmmmm...hadn't thought about the waist pack. Used to run with the fuel belts, then got the Camelback and the fuel belt now drives me crazy. The waist pack doesn't seem as annoying b/c there isn't as much liquid. When racing marathons, I never take hydration b/c there are aid stations there as you mentioned John - so good pt! 5-7 min slower, that might be worth some hand held aggravation!

Then get a waist pack (http://www.nathansports.com/hydration/waist-paks) or just use the camel back, rip out the bladder and put a bottle in it.
The point being that the camelback is great if you have on a long training run and absolutely have to drag 6lb of water along with you because there are no aid stations. My main point is that we have aid stations, so no need to be a camel and that if speed is of a concern than you should make sure it is super easy to refill so as to to take advantage of those aid stations with a minimal time penalty.
Now a lot of runners are set in their ways. I understand that. In fact, if you are in my age group I encourage you to remain set in your ways since the extra 5lb of water will make you about 5-7 minutes slower. :-)
