Keep in mind ... the average runner takes in excess of an hour for those last three miles up. The grade is not particularly different than the earlier miles - but the build up of fatigue, and the the altitude make them challenging. As far as the down goes, the first three miles down to treeline feel great for me. The next three to Barr Camp feel like they should with a long run. The last six are difficult. You get some little uphills on the down that suddenly feel like big uphills. You have switchbacks that make you realize how tired you really are. It is typically getting hotter. The chances of falling are greater - because of the fatigue. But ... all that said ...you don't know your limits until you test them.
