I USED to be a gel person, but since moving up to ultra's I don't use the gels anymore. Just don't do the trick. Things I find most useful for me now: Beef Jerky(meat store )light weight,salty,and lasts a long time. The really small potatoes semi boiled in Sea Salt and placed in zip lock bag. Somewhat chunchy,but good source of energy on the fly. Mixed with s-caps and lots of H2O with them. As stated before-MAKE sure you have your method tested and proven before race day.
