I posted my best time when using a camelback - hydrated better all the way up. Have used handheld and water bottle belt in recent years, but am going back to the camelback this year to see if it makes a difference time-wide. All the best with your decision, and with your race. In response to: When the weather is unstable and I don't know what I will need on top, gloves, jacket, hat, I use the Camelpack shell to carry my clothes and still carry a handheld bottle. There are enough aid stations that a hand held should be enough. Last year A-frame ran out of water later on in the race and everyone who had their own water, camelpack or bottle, was in much better shape, than the poor folks who din't.
