When I passed the Barr Aid station two "Flight for life" crew members handed out water at the station. About 10 Minutes later I heard the helicopter take off. One of their"own" was running the race on both Saturday and Sunday. This is my personal explanation of what happened.I am not sure it is right, but pretty sure. They came to help and support their friend. At some point they got an "actual" call from somewhere else and took off, totally unrelated. The helicopter is a very expensive piece of equipment and we have only 2 or 3 of them in the greater Colorado Springs area. I can not imaging, that it gets parked at Barr Camp during the races, in case someone needs it. In the 10 years, that I have run this race, only one person had life threatening issues on the mountain. And in that case, the helicopter would probably not been able to land near the runner, or made a difference. Don't worry, keep running.
