My advice as a Flatlander myself is: 1. Keep moving up no matter how slow, 2. I take one asprin every hour. (Some runners use Tums). 3. Do not loose your breath or wind during the race. It is tough to catch a second wind. Good Luck, you will do great.. In response to: Very interesting. Thank you! I'm a flatlander and this will be my first ascent. Based on the recommendation on the site, I put an estimated finish time of 5:30 (my flatland marathon time of 4:49 plus a little more than half an hour as a cushion) I've never been to high altitude, so I have no idea how my body will react. Our training has consisted of trail running and treadmill on inclines from 9-15%. I'm tempted to try a couple of runs breathing through a straw like one person suggested. I'll just keep training, do a lot of praying, and show up with a positive attitude and do my best.
