The old 'go-to' recomondation was the Garmin 305, but it was discontinued for more expensive models that were more annoying to use. :-) As noted, the Garmin 10 will not last the duration of the PPM, so that is out. The Garmin 110 will do the trick with an 8 hour battery life, but only barely. It is $179 without the heart rate strap (which can be added later). It does not support the foot pod, but that is a minor issue. For only a few dollars more you get the 210 ($199 for only the watch). It also lasts 8 hours with the gps enabled and offers the use of a foot pod and other ant+ devices. Another notch up is the 310xt. This will do the trick at $250 (again, heart strap is extra) and offers all sorts of extra fun stuff like a 20 hour battery life, waterproof, etc. Of course there is also the 610 and 910, at $350+. Those two both blow the "low cost" target rather quickly. Oh yeah, I should point out that there are other brands out there, but I don't know anybody who has been happy with the lower cost models out there. :-)
