Ok, you asked... :-) My Sports Drink ("Go Juice") preferences change with some regularity as years go by and depending on goals. Last couple years I used 460Cals of PowerBar/Ironman Restore, for it's 250mg of Sodium per serving (my sodium is clinically low) and Carb/Protein makeup of ~87%/13%. This year, PPA is not my "A" race but a prelude to some Ultras that will stretch into next spring, and I'm using a mix of Champion Nutrition's "Heavyweight Gainer 900" (terrible name, great ratio of 69% Carbs, 20.3% Protein, 10.6% Fat) and Cytomax. The mix will be 471Cals, with a makeup of 81% Carbs, 12% Protein, and 6% Fat. I'm right in the 4:55 Ascent range, don't finish the drink until aobut the last mile and half, and find this much Cals and the ratio very satisfying. Many times, before upping my Cals and adding a little Protein and Fat I found myself starving above treeline, where it's actually difficult for me to chew and breathe and continue all at the same time. Also in/on the Pack Gloves/very Light Jacket. Race Ready shorts with pockets full of Gel and a PowerBar, and a Pace Chart. During TRAINING, basically the opposite- 50oz HydraPak Water, 28oz XL Bottle of "Go Juice".
