Ascent/Marathon competitive entry - 40 via qualification
The Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon will distribute up to 10 competitive entries per gender, per event, for a total of up to 40 entries. These entries are for the sole purpose of attracting top performing distance runners and to provide the best possible field of competitive runners. The decision is made by the Race Director and not the registrar/webmaster who is a competitive athlete himself. Past Ascent and Marathon overall winners already have a complimentary entry position reserved elsewhere on this page and need not apply for a competitive entry.

Runners will be accepted based on their bio, not first come, first serve. If more than 10 runners apply per gender, per race, less qualified runners will be turned away. Therefore, the determination of who is accepted can’t be done until after the July 19th entry deadline. If this is a concern you should apply for the race through the general registration process and then also apply for a competitive entry. If your competitive entry is then accepted you will get a refund for your general registration if it is valid. On the other hand, if your competitive entry is not accepted at least you will still be in the race so long as your general registration is valid.

- If signing up for the Ascent and your Ascent or ascent portion of the Marathon was 4:15:00 or slower you will be placed in Wave 2.
- If signing up for the Marathon and your Ascent was 4:15:00 or slower or your Marathon was 7:00:00 or slower you will be placed in Field 2.

Register for Ascent 1/2 price age-group award entry - Closed March 11th
Register for Marathon 1/2 price age-group award entry - Closed March 11th

Ascent/Marathon complimentary entry - 60 via invitation
The 2012 2nd-10th place M/F overall or top 5 M/F Masters in either the Ascent or Marathon receive a complimentary entry.

- The entry can be used for either race but not both.

Use only if you are a 2012 top 10 M/F overall or top 5 M/F Masters!

TCR series - half priced entry - 16 via invitation
The 2nd-5th place overall M/F TCR series winners and the 2nd-5th place overall M/F Masters TCR series winners from 2012 receive a half price series entry. The entry can be used for either race series but not both.

Notes: This option is available until March 12th. For this option you will be paying 1/2 price for all three races at once. After the 2nd leg of the Triple Crown of Running those runners who have not completed the first two races will be removed from the Ascent or Marathon. Therefore, if you are concerned about your ability to take part in the first two races of the series you should NOT use this as your entry method into the Ascent or Marathon! Instead, sign up for each Series race individually so that you will still be in the Series but you won’t be committed. However, you won’t be able to use your 1/2 price option. On the other hand, if you also won a free or 1/2 price entry from the PPA/M you can use that to get into one PPA/M race using the appropriate link above. Then use the GOG/SRTR portion of your TCR award to get into those races for 1/2 price by filling out a paper entry form available on the other races’ websites. The PPA/M portion of the TCR award is a duplicate and can’t be used. Signing up this way will still put you in the Series but will remove the obligation to do all three races. Finally, for those few who win two or more award entries via the Double you can only use your awards to sign up for the Double if you have an award entry from each race. Because there are so many combinations of this please contact the registrar before you register if you need clarification!

TCR series - complimentary entry - 4 via invitation
The 1st place overall M/F TCR series winner and 1st place overall M/F Masters TCR series winner from 2012 receive a complimentary series entry. The entry can be used for either race series but not both.
